Services Provided

The Infant & Toddler Program provides early intervention services to children ages birth to three years old who have significant developmental delays or diagnosed mental or physical conditions which are likely to result in delays.  Initial comprehensive evaluations and ongoing developmental assessments as well as speech, physical, and occupational therapies, special instruction, family training, and social/psychological services are provided to stimulate learning and to support and empower families.  The Infant & Toddler Program also provides technological equipment used for assistance, such as splints, walkers and augmentative communication devices. Transition into the public schools’ preschool special education programs or other appropriate placement is also provided. Music Therapy is offered for any family wishing to participate with their child each week and meetings of Parent Perspective, a family support group for current as well as former ITP families, are held monthly.

Consumer Satisfaction Results

Parent Satisfaction is surveyed by the Alabama Early Intervention System during the Provider Appraisal Review. Our most recent survey indicated a 91% rate of satisfaction among parents.

Positive Feedback

Many families expressed their appreciation and thanks to program staff for the services and assistance provided to their child and family when the child transitioned out of the program at the age of three.

Accomplishments For the Year

Two new gait trainers were added and a second music therapy class was begun to meet needs of families.  PECS (picture exchange communication system) was implemented with great success. Staff assisted many families with accessing services outside of the Arc, including Individual and Family Support, TASC (Technology Assistance for Special Consumers), and clinics.
